Fifty years is a long time.
Populations boom, fortunes are made and lost, and technology races ahead in the span of fifty years.
Fifty years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King delivered a speech that made America stop and listen.
While I can’t possibly adequately paraphrase the words that have inspired generations, it’s clear we haven’t met the challenge. The dream expressed 50 years ago goes unrealized for many Americans.
That’s not to say there haven’t been significant strides. Opportunities abound for people of all colors, but true equality remains elusive. I am proud of the contributions the American military has made advancing racial equality, and am committed to ensuring the Veteran Beer Company furthers the cause by providing a workplace that is free from bias and discrimination in any form. We, all of us Veterans, are better and smarter as a group together than any subset of that group is alone.
Fifty years is plenty long enough.
